Midnight Riders Unveil Pride Plans
Philanthropic, solidarity, and awareness activities throughout early June

May 29, 2014 Boston, Mass. – The Midnight Riders, an independent supporters group of the MLS franchise New England Revolution, today announced the schedule of Pride-related events in which the organization will take part. The celebrations will be held throughout early June, the traditional Pride month in Massachusetts and the city of Boston.

Celebrations will begin before and during the Revolution’s home game against the New York Red Bulls on June 8th (kickoff at 5 p.m. EDT). Before the game kicks off, members from both of the Revolution’s major supporters groups – the Midnight Riders and the Rebellion – will be selling small handheld flags emblazoned with a Pride-connected design and giving away stickers with a similar emblem. Proceeds from the sale of the flags and donations will go to support GLAD (Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders), an organization that has spent countless hours fighting for and defending the rights on the LGBT community in New England and nationwide.

Pride celebrations will continue after the game as the Midnight Riders will join the Rebellion and representatives from the Revolution in marching in Boston’s annual Pride Parade on June 14th. The Pride Parade is one of the highest-profile events of the Boston Pride season, and the Midnight Riders are excited to be a part of it for the first time this year. The three organizations will march together to demonstrate that the soccer community is accepting of all fans and supporters, regardless of gender, orientation, or identification.

“The Midnight Riders have been looking forward to this year’s Pride events since our first successful celebration last May,” said Midnight Riders president Fran Harrington. “We believe that soccer is for everybody, and we’re excited to demonstrate that with our involvement in Pride Night at the Revolution game and at the Parade in Boston the following weekend.”
